Finding God in Desert Valleys

100 Days of Finding God's Heart When Yours is Hurting

About the Book

Are you hugging a cactus of real-life heartache and reaching for meaning through the prickles? This place of finding God in desert valleys comes in many forms: loss of loved ones, divorce, health crises, hopeless situations, and tragedies. Your wilderness trail surrounded with cacti of hardship may not be the hike you chose, but looking closely through Finding God in Desert Valleys, you will see the beauty it holds—the beauty of finding.

Anna Deem’s new devotional, Finding God in Desert Valleys, shares stories and Scripture to encourage those going through difficult times. Through scenes of hope and snippets of challenge, this book brings attention to the incredible ways we find God in our seemingly dry, futile times, when fire often turns to fruit. Devotions such as Prickly Pear Cactus Fruit, Black Lights and Scorpions, and Tables in the Valley tie into the theme of Finding God in Desert Valleys. Readers will feel God drawing them toward healing and growth through this easy-to-read and uplifting book, even when their roots currently feel planted in dry ground.

Anna Deem writes from a heart of compassion for the hurting, having walked through a valley of personal heartache after losing her husband of twenty-one years. She lived in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona for twenty years among the giant saguaro cacti and is now back in her childhood state of Tennessee with her five children, ages 9 to 24. She teaches at a private Christian school where she regularly shares her devotions and stories with students and teachers. Anna enjoys her large extended family and giant poodles. She delights in knowing a amazing God who fills her with joy and growth even during desert seasons. She loves directing an outdoor camp for foster and fatherless children each summer, where she has learned that hard times and hope must join hands.
